UCF Noise Lab Personnel

John M. MacDonald, Ph.D.


John is the resident Noise Lab manager and has been at UCF since 1995. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from GMI Engineering Institute (formerly General Motors Institute) and a Masters of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Central Florida. John worked for General Motors for nine years as a co-op student and full time engineer from 1985 to 1994. He has worked on several air quality consulting projects and is proficient at many EPA and FHWA approved air and noise quality computer models. He has worked with Dr. Wayson since 1995 and has performed several transportation noise studies in that time. John also is the Noise Lab resident programmer. He was the lead programmer for algorithm development of the CNM model. Some additional information is listed below.

John rides motorcycles for fun and relaxation (when not dodging the Orlando "drivers") and also has over 700 sport skydives from the following types of aircraft:


Ductman 1.0 Incineration Program

The Ductman can approximate temperature drop in high temperature ducts. It also calculates the air input and fuel input required to combust waste materials and computes flue gas composition.
